Rained Out for Easter!

.

The Easter crowds have been driving us insane, and over the last few days yet more people have been arriving. Luckily our area is a little quieter than most, but boat station 2 is as busy and chaotic as I have ever seen it.

I find it really baffling that some tourists actually like staying in that area as for me, going there at this time of year is just frustrating. It takes forever to walk anywhere, the noise pollution from all the events and parties in Balabag can be heard as far away as Angol, you can't get a table at a restaurant, the ATM's are all empty, and the Manila crowd are prone to throwing their trash all over the beach.
As a result of there being way more people here than this small island can comfortably accomodate, there are power cuts several times a day as the electricity supply is strained to breaking point, and as an additional annoyance, the weather has taken an unpredictable turn, with monsoon rainshowers every night for the past few days. Considering that our roof is still in a dire state, this is not a good thing!
I can't wait for all these "bewilderbeast" (you know, those open mouthed, vacant eyed tourists shuffling aimlessly about) to bugger off back from whence they came - and take their garbage with them! I know that a lot of our income is derived from tourism, but the attitude of these hoards of package tourists makes me uncomfortable - they have no respect for the island or the environment. Give me some decent backpackers or travellers any time.

.
On a lighter note, our full moon parties are still drawing a friendly, chilled out crowd - thanks to our friends Bebot and Django & all the boys. Special thanks to guest musician and new friend Jon Elstar for contributing his considerable talent on the harmonica.
Jon and his wife Elayne are off on their travels again, to Sipalay, and then on to Enigmata Treehouse in Camiguin. We'll miss you guys!
